Tools and Techniques for Teaching and Learning

HDS and Harvard University have prepared a set of technology tools and pedagogies for hybrid, online, or other technology-assisted modes of instruction.

Welcome to Teaching at HDS, a website for anyone involved in instruction at the Harvard Divinity School. Whether you are a new faculty member, a visiting instructor, a teaching fellow, or have been on the faculty for years, there is something here for you.

We have curated the best resources from around Harvard and other higher-ed institutions to help you teach effectively. Whether you are teaching in person, online, or in a blended course, you will find information on the tools Harvard provides and the HDS professionals who will work with you to create the course that meets your teaching goals.

Tools

Familiar technologies such as the Canvas online classroom environment and Zoom meeting software have been linked and enhanced with new teaching tools. Please take time to explore these resources and refer back to them during the academic year.

Teaching

No matter how long you have been teaching, there is always something new. Harvard has a variety of resources for you to explore new teaching methods, learn from your colleagues, and share your own experiences

Library

Staff of the HDS Library can support your teaching in multiple ways. The library website describes the resources and services available to all library users. See Help & Services for Faculty for information about services designed specifically for faculty and other instructors
